Immucor is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our Quality Laboratory team. The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory testing (including potency, specificity, reactivity and hemagglutination assays) and chemical evaluations (including protein, absorbance, chloride, osmolality, and pH) of Immucor products according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) within defined timeframes. This is a second shift position, Monday - Friday from 11am - 7:30pm.

Medical Technologist II – Quality Laboratory

Responsibilities

As a Medical Technologist, you will perform all assigned tasks following applicable laboratory SOPs, OSHA regulations and cGMP regulations (i.e. blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards). You will perform inventory control tasks of in-process components or products. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing equipment maintenance and/or calibration and temperature monitoring in a timely manner according to applicable procedures.

Additional Medical Technologist responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring supply inventory and identifying any products required

  • Inspecting in-coming components for compliance with company specifications

  • Preparing chemical solutions, reagents, calibrators and/or standards according to laboratory procedures

  • Operating, cleaning and maintaining department equipment including computers, printers, incubators, centrifuges, mechanical shakers, washing devices, pH meter, analytical balance, spectrophotometer, etc. according to department protocols

  • Accurately calculating amount of in-process components or products received, used, or rejected

  • Performing required statistical analyses of department’s processes

  • Understanding FDA and ISO standards applicable to the department and consequences of nonconformance

  • Meeting achievement levels established for competency evaluation

  • Following applicable company procedures for the documentation of training of new employees

  • Assisting the department supervisor and/or manager with investigations, root cause analyses and reports of out-of-specification results and deviations

Medical Technologist II – Quality Laboratory

Qualifications

We are looking for a Medical Technologist with at least 1-3+ years of experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Candidates should be professional and self-motivated with exceptional communication and strong analytical skills.

Additional Medical Technologist requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Life Sciences or other science or technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • MT(ASCP) or MT(AMT) with 1-3 years of blood banking experience; MLT(ASCP) or MLT(AMT) with 4-6 years of blood banking experience

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
